Gajim 2.4.0

 ·  by cal0pteryx  ·  Release

This release brings read markers in group chats, improved file transfers, more details for your account, and many smaller changes and bug fixes. Thank you for all your contributions!

What’s New

Read markers: You already know read markers for your chats, which look like: ‘Contact has read up to this point’. Now, Gajim supports read markers for group chats as well! For group chats, we went for a different approach though: Each participant’s read state is indicated by the participant’s profile picture next to the message which has been read. Since this is working pretty good, Gajim now uses this approach for regular chats as well.

File transfers: Gajim’s internal processing of file uploads and downloads has been simplified, which makes handling files a lot smoother. Furthermore, .onion domains are now supported as well. In the process of improving file handling, some bugs in Gajim’s file preview have been fixed as well.

Profiles: If you view your account by clicking the bottom left profile picture in Gajim, you will now see your profile as well. This brings your profile closer to your account, and makes it easier to edit all the details. And this release brings another detail: support for pronouns in profiles.
