This release brings reorganized account settings, a brand new shortcuts manager, more contact infos, video previews, performance improvements, and many bugfixes. Thank you for all your contributions!

What’s New

Gajim 2.3 comes with a new design featuring Adwaita, a user interface library which provides building blocks for modern adaptive applications. Adwaita is used by many popular projects and provides well-designed elements for Gajim’s user interface.

Gajim 2.3.5 bundles preferences and account settings in a single dialog. In the past, account settings were located in a separate dialog. Now, managing accounts and their settings is possible directly from the preferences dialog. While moving these settings, many account-specific dialogs have been integrated and improved as well, e.g. connection info, contact list management, and history utilities.

Another new feature can be found in Gajim’s preferences dialog: A brand new shortcuts manager, which enables you to change or disable Gajim’s keyboard shortcuts.

Previously, Gajim offered a tooltip on each contact’s profile picture, which would reveal some additional info about the contact (e.g. address, status or idle time). Gajim now offers more infos, for example the contact’s role and organization, email and telephone number, if available. These infos are directly sourced from the contact’s vCard (contact information), which can be edited via Gajim’s profile dialog.

Last but not least, this release comes with significant performance improvements on Windows. This should resolve issues with lags some users experienced in the past.
